Paris Day 2 – Walking Tours and Trip To The Lourve

Day two in Paris was a whirlwind of heat, history, and unexpected challenges. After a simple yet satisfying breakfast of granola, yogurt, and fruit (minus the unfortunate incident of leaving the fruit to perish in my bag), I embarked on a walking tour with the renowned Sandeman Tours.

Now, I must admit, the tour was a bit of a rollercoaster. Our guide, Harry, was undoubtedly passionate and knowledgeable, but the relentless Parisian heat and the unfortunate booking of the wrong tour (Latin Quarter instead of the full Paris experience) made it a bit of a trial. Still, the Latin Quarter has its charm, and stumbling upon the Pantheon was a highlight. This historical masterpiece is a must-see for any visitor, with its impressive architecture and the tombs of French luminaries.

After the tour, I joined forces with two lovely ladies from New York, Margo and Andy, for a much-anticipated visit to the Louvre. The sheer scale of the museum is mind-boggling, and while navigating the crowds was a challenge, the iconic artworks are undoubtedly worth the effort. While I’m not sure I fully grasped the historical and educational significance of every piece, the Louvre’s grandeur is undeniable.

The day concluded with a much-needed respite from the heat and a chance to recharge. A quick train ride back to the hostel, a refreshing shower, and some much-needed downtime with a good book provided the perfect end to a long but exhilarating day. Paris, you’ve certainly thrown me some curveballs, but I’m eager to see what you have in store for tomorrow.
