Get Your Guide App Review: Your Pocket-Sized Travel Companion?
As a travel blogger, I’m always on the lookout for tools and apps that can enhance the travel experience. Enter “Get Your Guide,” a popular platform offering a vast array of tours, activities, and attractions bookable directly through their website and mobile app. I recently put their app to the test on a trip to Poland, Hungary, Germany and Austria to see if it lives up to the hype. Admittedly I even used it navigating my homeland in England UK.
First Impressions:
The Get Your Guide app is clean and intuitive. Navigating through the various categories (tours, activities, attractions) is straightforward, and the search function works well. The app also allows you to filter by price, duration, language, and other criteria, making it easy to narrow down your options. I particularly liked the map feature, which visually displays available activities in your chosen area, another great favorite is finding walking tours as i used in both Germany and Austria too.
Booking Process:
Booking an activity was a breeze. The app clearly displays all the essential information, including the itinerary, meeting point, cancellation policy, and customer reviews. The booking process itself was quick and secure, and I received instant confirmation via email and within the app. Having all my booking confirmations in one place was incredibly convenient.
User Experience:
Overall, the app is user-friendly and reliable. I experienced no glitches or crashes during my testing. The app also offers offline access to your booking confirmations, which is a huge plus when you’re travelling in areas with limited internet connectivity. I found the customer support readily accessible through the app, although I didn’t personally need to use it.
Pros:
- Wide Selection: Get Your Guide boasts an impressive selection of tours and activities across the globe. Whether you’re looking for a walking tour, a cooking class, or a day trip, chances are you’ll find something that interests you.
- Easy Booking: The booking process is simple, fast, and secure.
- Offline Access: The ability to access booking confirmations offline is a major advantage.
- User-Friendly Interface: The app is easy to navigate and use.
- Customer Reviews: Reading reviews from other travellers can help you make informed decisions.
- Mobile Ticketing: No need to print out tickets – just show your phone!
Cons:
- Price Comparison: While Get Your Guide offers competitive pricing, it’s always worth comparing prices with other providers before booking. Sometimes you might find the same tour slightly cheaper elsewhere.
- Reliance on Internet (Initially): While offline access is great for confirmations, you’ll need an internet connection to browse and book activities.
- Bookable events are not regulated. (Essential to research the company you are booking your event with first.)
Final Verdict:
The Get Your Guide app is a valuable tool for any traveler. Its user-friendly interface, wide selection of activities, and convenient booking process make it a great way to discover and book tours and experiences. While it’s always wise to compare prices, the convenience and reliability of the app make it a worthwhile investment. I’d definitely recommend it to fellow travelers looking to enhance their trips. Personally I’d rate it 4/5 stars. To get it on my 5th Star tier list, I would probably recommend that the bulk of bookable events should be regulated. If that was to come into force I think this app would be a an absolute juggernaut in the travel space. 100% recommended for anyone travelling and even more so if you are on a budget!
Would I use it again? Absolutely! The Get Your Guide app has earned a place on my list of essential travel apps. It streamlined my booking process and gave me access to a wide range of activities that I might not have otherwise discovered.
