Struggling with your own travel goals?

Often we find ourselves struggling with choice. Choice affects our goals, we choose to chase them or we don’t… That’s as simple as it gets. – Struggle with this myself and do tend to find myself struggling with my own travel goals when I compare myself to others. Comparison will only lead you to misery. Trust me.

When it comes to focussing on travel we seem to adopt the same choices that many others have as they’ve already done the research. They’ve been there done that wore the T-Shirt. We’re both right and wrong to assume that. Most people that create content have taken their journey the way they want to. It’s time to take your journey the way you want it too.

The most important thing to do is to use content for guides and not as absolutes, they are not rules and regulations that you have to live and travel by. When you take the same paths as others have, you tend to end up on opposite ends of the scale and end up severely underwhelmed or completely overwhelmed. It’s crucial that you adapt plans to suite you. Content classed as guides are to be guides and nothing more. Don’t forget that.

If you are struggling setting your own travel goals, be sure to make a check list, it may sound boring but it works. The number one thing here is to monitor what it is you want to achieve from your trip, whether that be to chill or to throw yourself off of every cliff… It really doesn’t mayor. What matters is you strive to achieve what you want to set your mind on doing.

Personally I ask myself the following 5 questions when making my own travel goals;

  • What do I want to achieve from this trip?
  • Where do I want to go?
  • How am I going to get there?
  • Why am I going?
  • When is it I am going? (When, is important as different opportunities present themselves during opposing seasons.)
  • Who am I going with?

All of these questions are so simple but yet so effective then once you have done this you can then start planning things to go see and things to go and do or ultimately if chilling is for you then absolutely do nothing. The point is, they’re your goals and you can flex them, make every choice yours.
